Beyond the powerful twin-turbo V6, the 2024 Z offers some other notable performance upgrades over previous generations. An available 6-speed manual includes a specially designed short-throw shifter to enable quicker, more precise shifts. This allows drivers better control to keep the engine in its powerband during aggressive acceleration.
The Z will also be offered with a new 9-speed automatic transmission for the first time. This transmission features unique sports car tuning to deliver lightning-quick gear changes when driving in a dynamic manner. Paddle shifters allow manual control of the gears when desired. This new transmission even features advanced downshift rev-matching for flawless throttle blips when braking into corners.
Chassis enhancements like a limited-slip differential, high-response brakes, and an electronic power steering system that quickens response closer to the limit all indicate Nissan is emphasizing the Z’s role as an accessible yet capable sports car. Wide, grippy 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in performance tires come standard. Large 14-inch front and 13.8-inch rear brake rotors ensure repeated hard stops do not diminish responsiveness.
While performance stands out, the 2024 Z does not forsake comfort and tech. Premium features include heated leather seats, an excellent Bose audio system, and an 8-inch center touchscreen running a user-friendly infotainment system with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. Convenience features include intelligent key access, push button start, dual-zone climate control, and available wireless phone charging.
We expect the 2024 Z to arrive at Nissan dealers nationwide in late 2023. Pricing should come in around $40,000 for the base Sport trim, ranging up near $50,000 for higher Performance and Proto Spec versions. This keeps the Z an affordable exotic sports car ready to take on rivals like the Toyota Supra, BMW Z4, and Chevrolet Corvette. Stay tuned for full testing and impressions as we approach the on-sale date!
